Higurashi no naku koro ni and Shirakawa-go (白川郷)

Just before I visit Shirakawa-go in Japan, I was surprised to find out that the Hinamizawa village from Higurashi no naku koro ni is based on this actual location. The look of the main village is based on that actual village, which is actually a tourist village. A lot of the older houses in this village are preserved in this village for tourism, and is a nice change from the hustle and bustle of the more prominent Japanese metropolitan.

The village is located in Gifu prefecture, and is about 2-3 hours from Nagoya.

For all the Higurashi no naku koro ni fans out there, give this old village when you have the chance to visit Japan!
